Vande Bharat Sleeper Launch: Indian Railways Revises Platform Numbers of 30 Trains at Malta Town

Indian Railways has reiterated that the platform changes are temporary and that normal operations will resume after January 17.

New Delhi: Ahead of the launch of India’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper train, Indian Railways has temporarily revised the platform numbers of 30 trains for two days—January 16 and 17—to ensure smooth and seamless operations at Malta Town station.

The temporary changes have been introduced as part of operational adjustments linked to the high-profile launch event scheduled for Saturday, January 17. Railway officials said the measure is aimed at avoiding congestion and maintaining punctuality of other services during the launch period.

Confirming the development, Shibram Majhi, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO), Eastern Railway, told, “Yes, the platforms have been changed temporarily for two days due to the launch of the Vande Bharat Sleeper train.”

Passengers travelling through Malta Town station during the two-day period have been advised to check updated platform information through official railway announcements, enquiry counters, and digital platforms to avoid inconvenience.

The launch of the Vande Bharat Sleeper train marks a significant milestone for Indian Railways, as it introduces a next-generation overnight travel experience with modern amenities, enhanced comfort, and improved safety features. Given the importance of the event, railway authorities have put special arrangements in place to ensure that regular train operations continue without disruption.
