Taking a major step towards modernizing signaling infrastructure and enhancing operational safety, Indian Railways has approved the installation of Electronic Interlocking (EI) at 13 stations on the Durg-Taroki section of the South East Central Railway’s (SECR) Raipur Division at a cost of ₹226 crore. The project involves replacing the existing Panel Interlocking (PI) systems with Electronic Interlocking (EI) at these 13 stations, thereby making train operations safer, more reliable, and technology-driven.
Modernisation of Signalling Infrastructure
The approved project includes the installation of electronic interlocking at the following stations on the Durg-Taroki section of the Raipur Division:
- Gudum (GUDM)
- Bhanupratappur (BPTP)
- Keoti (KETI)
- Antagarh (AAGH)
- Taroki (TDOK)
- Raipur Store Depot (RSD)
- Marauda (MXA)
- Risama (RSA)
- Gundardehi (GDZ)
- Latabor (LBO)
- Balod (BXA)
- Kusumkasa (KYS)
- Dalli Rajhara (DRZ)
The transition from panel interlocking to electronic interlocking will significantly modernize the signaling infrastructure on this crucial section, thereby enhancing operational flexibility and system reliability.
Enhancing Train Safety, Speed, and Reliability
Electronic interlocking is a state-of-the-art signaling system that automates route setting, enhances safety, improves operational efficiency, reduces signaling failures, and enables rapid recovery during disruptions.
This project will enhance the safety and reliability of train operations, improve punctuality, and create a robust technical foundation to handle the growing passenger and freight traffic on the South East Central Railway network. This approval is part of an Indian Railways program aimed at modernizing signaling systems across the country using advanced technology, thereby making railway operations safer, smarter, and more efficient.
