Indian Railways has cancelled and rescheduled several mail and express trains arriving at New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations on Saturday, October 10. This decision was taken in anticipation of massive traffic jams around the stations due to a protest planned in the capital by the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP).
Railway’s Precautionary Move: An Effort to Ease Passenger Inconvenience
The Ministry of Railways clarified that this proactive and precautionary measure aims to minimise inconvenience to passengers. According to the Ministry, all mail/express trains departing from their originating stations after 2:00 PM on October 9 and scheduled to arrive at New Delhi or Hazrat Nizamuddin between 4:00 AM and 2:00 PM on October 10 have been cancelled at their originating stations.
Eastern Railway Cancels Two Rajdhani Trains
Eastern Railway has also cancelled two Rajdhani Express trains originating from West Bengal. These include Train No. 12301 Howrah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express and Train No. 12313 Sealdah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express.
Two Trains Rescheduled by Five Hours
The schedules of two trains—Train No. 12951 Mumbai Central-New Delhi Tejas Rajdhani Express (departing at 5:00 PM on October 9, arriving at 8:32 AM on October 10) and Train No. 12953 Mumbai Central-Hazrat Nizamuddin (departing at 5:10 PM on October 9, arriving at 9:43 AM on October 10)—have been adjusted by five hours. – Train No. 12247: Bandra Terminus–Hazrat Nizamuddin (Departing 9 Oct at 5:30 PM; arriving 10 Oct at 10:15 AM)
– Train No. 12957: Sabarmati–New Delhi (Departing 9 Oct at 7:20 PM; arriving 10 Oct at 7:30 AM)
Delhi Police issues warning
The Delhi Police has issued a warning against gathering crowds without permission ahead of the CJP protest scheduled for October 10. Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) is in force in the New Delhi area. The police stated that legal action would be taken against anyone violating these restrictions.
