The foundation stone for a ₹108 crore four-lane Road Over Bridge (ROB) between Guntur and Nambur railway stations was laid on September 23. The project aims to improve road connectivity in the area, reduce traffic congestion, and enhance rail safety.
This 668-meter-long bridge will replace Level Crossing Gate No. 3 on the Guntur-Krishna Canal section of the Guntur-Nambur line. Located near Guntur’s Inner Ring Road, the bridge will connect Bus Stand Road to Gorantla village.
V. Somanna, Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti, stated that this bridge would help eliminate delays at level crossings, improve traffic flow, reduce fuel consumption, and facilitate the smooth operation of trains.
He also mentioned that 74 railway stations in Andhra Pradesh are being modernized with an investment of approximately ₹3,500 crore. The Ministry of Railways will bear the entire cost of the project, which requires 2.9 acres of land; construction is set to begin soon.
Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar stated that coordination between central and state agencies is accelerating road and rail infrastructure projects in the Guntur region and helping to resolve long-standing traffic issues.
