Indian Railways has taken a significant step towards making road traffic in Gujarat safer and smoother. Approval has been granted for the construction of 4 lane Road Over Bridge at Level Crossing No. 305 on the Geratpur-Ahmedabad railway section of Western Railway. A cost of ₹153 crore has been sanctioned for this project.
The construction of the new four-lane road over-bridge will help streamline road traffic at the level crossing. Additionally, it will provide motorists with better connectivity and enhance traffic safety.
This approval is part of the extensive infrastructure development works being undertaken by Western Railway. These include the construction and reconstruction of road over-bridges and under-bridges, the construction of foot-over-bridges, and improvements to the drainage system.
This bridge is situated in a densely populated urban area; consequently, its construction will require long approaches and large-scale construction work. The railway bridge will have a total length of 106 meters, comprising two 53-meter composite girders. A 150-meter-long viaduct will be constructed subsequently. The total length of the railway approach will be 595 meters.
The new overbridge will eliminate the wait at the level crossing and ensure smooth, round-the-clock vehicular movement. It will provide relief from traffic congestion while enabling safer and faster travel. This project reflects Indian Railways’ commitment to eliminating level crossings and developing safe, modern transport infrastructure.
